V4 Cab Question

Discussion in 'Amps and Cabs [BG]' started by Tom Neves, Aug 8, 2000.

  1. Hi guys,
I am thinking of getting a 70s V4 guitar cab for Bass.
It has 4 CTS speakers. I have a V4b Power Amp.
I know the original V4b Cab was a folded horn design. I want something more compact without sacrificing tone.
I really like the compact size of the cabinet.
Has anyone out there had this setup, or heard it?
I was wondering how the tone would shape up for Bass, being this is a cab for guitar.
By the way, This is not a ported cabinet.
Maybe all that is needed is a speaker upgrade.
    What do you guys think?
    Tom

I see that nobody ever answered your question. What did you end up getting?

That post was 18 years ago. It’s been two years since the OP has logged in.

I assume that was the 412 cabinet.

I was feeling "naughty" and just had to resurrect an old thread. :)

I noticed that one never got a reply, so I replied. :D

Imagine if the site had been around for the last 70 years, going back to threads like: "Fender just hinted at an electric bass!! Does that make any sense?"

And in 50 years that is sorta where many of these threads will fit in. It will be fun to follow what "new" stuff became standard, and what never took off.

This site is living history. Imagine threads like this existing in the 60's, with the bass players from "startup" bands like the Stones and Who, not to mention The Beatles all discussing, asking questions, sharing gig stories, etc.

Every thread needs to be refloated every now and again. :)

    Every question deserves a response.
