  1. I have been highly considering getting one of his basses (the ones Orin Issacsc use off of Open Mike) Does anyone have any experience with any of his basses?
    Any help would be great

I've played 3 different models, all at Luthier's Access Group. The fretless 5 was one of the nicest fretless basses I've ever played. Too bad it was sold. The fretted 5 was a slapper's wet dream...but didn't do it for my finger-style playing. Very playable, though.

The 6 that's still at LAG is a nice bass. Vadim puts a lot of time into the construction of his basses. It's very playable, and proof that EMG pickups can sound very warm!:D

  3. thanks, I talked to him and he can do pretty much anything I want for not a bad price, not bad at all

If you want to try one out and are willing to drive a few hours, there's one in a store here in Rochester.

It's at the Guitar Center, on Jefferson Road.

It is gorgeous. I'd say the most attractive instrument in the store. Beautiful execution. Thin neck. It is the bass on the opening page of Vadim's website. I asked some questions about it in some previous threads, but to sum it up: it is marked "used," but that is because of GC's purchasing methods- it is actually new. It was priced at $3700, but that should be able to be knocked down, I am told. I am also told that you could get one cheaper direct. There was a problem with one of the pots (probably due to shop mishandling), and there had been bad strings on it, but it's been fixed.

BTW, it looks much better in person than the washed-out website photo.

I am the proud owner of a Vadim 4 string. Just got it about ten weeks ago. Worth the wait. A true work of art.

Do you have any pics of the whole bass? I am probably going to get a Vadim at some point and I'm interested to see it. Also, which pickups and preamp do you have in the bass?

    Got bunches of pics.
Vadim will tell you that the pickups are made to his specs by a fellow who remains un-named. Ditto the pre-amp. so... the pups are Vadim and the pre is Vadim.

Last pic for now. If there are any other Vadim owners out there, let's get in touch.

Welcome to TB! And beautiful instrument! How would you describe the tone, and what styles do find it good for?

Since a few of you were interested...

I was just at the GC in Rochester yesterday. The Vadim mentioned above is on sale. It's been marked "Manager's closeout" or something like that, at only $1999!! Somebody should snatch it up.

(I have no commercial connection to GC, etc. etc.)
