Well, I've come up with a Headstock that I'm happy with & I wnated to know tour opinion.

Also, I put in an order to build 2 4 string basses. Here are the features.

    The 1st is a:

    Vintage Full Sized Jazz
    -Alder Body
    -Maple w/Pau Ferro Fretboard
    -Inca Silver w/matching headstock
    -Satin Finish on Neck
    -White/Black/white pickguard
    -BassLines Quarter Pound p/u's (passive)
    -Hipshot Tuning Keys
    -Gotoh Quick Release Bridge
    -Chrome Hardware
-Countoured heel for easier access to the upper frets

    The 2nd is a:

Standard Downsized Jazz (no p/g or control plate)
    -Swamp Ash Body
    -Natural finish
    -Maple neck with Maple fretboard
    -Black Binding & Block inlays
    -Satin Finish on neck
-BassLines Classic Stacks w/STC-2P 2 band preamp
    -Hipshot Tuning Keys
    -Gotoh Quick Release Bridge
    -Black Hardware
-Countoured heel for easier access to the upper frets

I can't wait till the necks & bodies come in casue I'm itching to build em!!!

I like the headstock, but personally, I'd make it just a little bigger.

I don't know why, but for some reason, I don't like the tip of the headstock. I like the main part of it, but the shape of the tip doesn't jive for some reason. I honestly cannot say why I do not like it, but it just doesn't flow for some reason.

I think its definetly a solid design!

As for that first bass....

I have a buddy who had QP pickups in his jazz and it sounded awesome.

Just give me some time Nino, Im gonna have another Valenti on order real soon.

    Peace

Who builds these for you Nino? I think it's an ok design but I think I would personally prefer it to look more like the regular Fender style headstock. It just looks like one with a small chunk taken out. Not bad, imo but that would be my .02. Hope it helps somehow. :)

Looks good. Still, it whispers bongo to me...

Personally, I think it looks a little too similar to the Austin brand I've seen some pawn shops selling new. I wouldn't really want that confusion if I were you, Nino.

I like it, I think it may be better if ya cut off a bigger piece of the bottom though. You doing like basses from parts right? Not fully cutting your own wood n stuff?

  11. Hmm. No offense but it looks like some weird Picasso-like four eyed cow mooing. It must be too late at night.

What color do you call Nick's bass? - that is nice. It kinda reminds me of the bronze color that was used on cars in the early 50's. Very cool if you ask me.

  12. My only question is how are you going to do 5 strings with that design? That headstock would look wicked with a 4+1 design but the Valenti logo would have to be moved.

The headstock on your bass kind of remindes me of the headstock on the Valley Arts guitars/basses.

It's a harmony headstock if I ever saw one. I used to have a cheap harmony with the same headstock.

I like the downsized idea and the shape of the bottom, but I don't care for the chunk cut out of the end. Reminds me of a "A Bass". I'd stick to a more traditional shaped end .... Fender/Sadowsky/etc.

    Hey Nino,

reminds me too much of an A Basses headstock:

I second the question ;) who is building those for you?
