Value of a 1963 Fender Blackface 2x10 cab?

Discussion in 'Amps and Cabs [BG]' started by kennyhoe, May 9, 2004.

  1. Hello,

I have recently been cab hunting for an 8-ohm cab to go w/ my other 8-ohm cab. I received an email from someone who is selling a 1963 Fender Blackface 2x10 cab. He is asking $300 CDN, or roughly $220 USD. Is this a good deal? He says the cosmetic condition is very good considering how old it is, and it works well. Can anybody tell me if this is worth it? Thanks.

  2. It's a good deal, but I sure wouldn't use it as a bass cabinet. Much more desirable as a guitar cab IMHO...probably doesn't handle much power. But I've known guitar players that would jump on that in a heartbeat.

A 63 Fender 210 would be from a Tremolux guitar amp, it's not a bass cabinet and would not sound good at all for bass.

I wouldn't buy it, but since you asked: value depends a lot on whether the factory speakers are still in it and if they have been reconed, etc. Low end of the range in the USA would be about $200. It could go for as much as $400 if really immaculate and all original.
  4. Alright, thanks. That confirms my suspicion(sp?) of it being more suited as a guitar cab.
