  3. Hey thanks. . . . . i've been looking for that tab forever!!!! :D

  4. This tab is not "out-there."

It's one of the first tunes my bass teacher taught me years ago. I just put it down for you.

There was a full transcription of this for bass and guitar with tab and notation in a late eighties issue of "Guitar for The Practicing Musician" magazine. I lost my collection of this magazine, but remember the issue. You could probably find someone in the bass forums that has the issue.

Guitar World maintains an index, available online, to reference tab from prior various magazines.

According to the index you can find Ice Cream Man tabbed in three publications- Guitar for the Practicing Musician Nov 1986, Guitar Legends #71, and Guitar World June 1991.
If I have one these old issues in my "collection" (vertical pile semi-organized), I will get back to you in a few days.

The GW tab index might have few errors, but I find it useful. Most of the guitar magazines have provided tab for bass lines as well. And the index is also a reference for prior Bass Player magazine issues.

After consulting the online Guitar World tab index (it's strange that I first got on the web just to locate something I had in my house) I was able to find in my "archives" both- GuitarForThePracticingMusician Nov 1986 and -GuitarWorld Jun 1991. GW was not providing bass tab at that time, just guitar tab. Thankfully, GW has since repented from their bass-less ways.

I was, however, also able to locate an almost mint copy of GFTPM Nov 1986 which did provide both bass tab and bass notation for Ice Cream Man. It appears to be accurate. I scanned it to pdf. Send me an email and its yours.

I didn't realize the song, and myself, are that old. The magazine is in better shape than I am. (sigh)
