Hey you Western Canada TB types, can anyone confirm a rumour I heard that Long John Baldry is alive and well and doing voice-over work up in your neck of the woods?

    Love that guy's voice!

Baldry's lived up here for years, don't know about v.o., but he continues to release albums:

    Excellent.

When you said 'up here' did you mean Toronto or Vancouver?

I saw he was on tour in the UK, the guy has a lot of roots there. I also saw they have not yet rereleased 'It Ain't Easy' on CD, noting that determining who owns the rights to the songs was sticky. Given that one side of the album was produced by Rod Stewart, and the other by Elton John, I could see how that could be an issue.
I will say the version of 'Flying' with Elton on piano, and Lesley Duncan as choirmistress is over the top.

I saw him open for Fleetwood Mac and Savoy Brown [top bill] years ago. Great show.

I also saw him in the late 70's at Paul's Mall/The Jazz Workshop in Boston. Jazzier, but a voice of pure blue silk. The new Leadbelly release should be good, I'm gonna pick it up.

    Take care
