Any one hear anything on this?
Is it gonna happen, or is it just a rumor at this point?
I hope it's as nice as the Vic Bailey 4 if they do come out with it.

The new frontline does show a fretless 4 string and a acoustic signature bass :meh:

Fender generally rolls out new instruments at the Summer NAMM.

Victor said himself that a 5 string would come out at this NAMM and that he's working with Fender on it.

I'll look for it later this week and if it's there I'll be sure to get some pics. The big hub bub last year was everyone wondering about the Roscoe Beck 4 string that was rumored. It was there and was released but I don't know a single person who bought one.

Yeah, keep a look out. I think the Victor Bailey Jazz is just about the nicest one Fender make these days. Hell, one of the nicest ones in general!!
And come to think of it, I haven't even seen a RB 4 string here in Detroit yet.

I agree on the VB....I loved it since I first saw it at Bass Day LA a few years back. I've always been a sucker for Koa.

  10. Me too. Never had it on a bass, but I once had a Taylor
K-14c. It had Koa back and sides and sounded amazing.

I just don't know where Fender's getting all the KOA from. I was under the impression that it was endangered and not available for sale any longer.

I had a Koa BC Rich Mockingbird Supreme many years ago that I sure wish I had held onto.

I agree. Since it only comes from Hawaii and is heavily controlled it surprises me that it's available so readily. Warmoth has solid Koa Jazz bodies for $240 (2-3 pieces) which doesn't seem that expensive considering. I saw a few full Koa Pensa's over at Rudy's, but they didn't look very appealing. Even these Bailey's are only caps on other woods.

I grabbed this one piece body in '82. The old Rich's still crop up occasionally with some fine examples, but I think the market has figured out the lust factor for it so they're priced accordingly.

My friend, Jonathan Starr in Maui literally sent a koa coffee table he had to Mike Tobias and Mike made him a killer MTD535 out of it.

Yeah Jonathan Starr's Koa MTD bass is sweet.

As for the VB 5'er, I would really like to see something like that come out from Fender. Currently the RB5 is the only 5'er they make that I like, but the knob set up and toggle switch wasn't to my liking when I was looking at that one.

Are their ways to have it set up for VBT w/ separate tap-switches?
