I am a big fan of this dude. He doesn't get the props I think he deserves. It had to be hard following one of your heroes into a gig.

No diss intended to Jaco, but Weather Report had other bassists too!!!

Any other Victore fans in da howse???

  2. I agree with you that Victor Bailey has been putting out some interesting music. It seems like one more person gets to shine on musically after stepping out of the shadow of Zawinul.
This guy is heading up his own group after quite some time with the Zawinul Syndicate.
I have two of his CD's---'That's Right', and 'Bottom's Up'. There is only one tune out of the bunch that I didn't care much for--'Where's Paco'.

Good Musician, Good Bassist, Good Composer.....

I'm with you on that. "Where's Paco is a pretty wack song. He plays a good bass tho!

    hmmmmm

Victor Wooten is good friends with Steve Bailey
    :ninja:

seriously, Victor Bailey can PLAY, he is a really great bassist, that definitely gets overlooked a bit, being cursed with "bassist that came after jaco in weather report" syndrome, but he is a very great player, and he deserves many props :D

He's great, I have his first solo album Bottom's Up.
Check out the Petit Blonde live album if you can, with Bill Evans and Dennis Chambers.

  6. I've enjoyed it when Vistor Bailey and Omar Hakim are paired up....they've worked quite well together.
Plus, it's nice to see what kind of creative voice people have when they get away from Zawinul.

I really dug Bottoms Up. 'Joyce's Favorite', and the bass solo 'For Wendell And Brenda' is really cool. That was fun to learn. Two Price Hit with B Evans and D Chambers live is nice too.
