Victor Wooten clipping tone

    In a video of Victor Wooten () when he plays some chordal parts (around the 5 minute mark at its most noticable) there's a really nice crunch going on, like a nice guitar amp with the tubes just about to start breaking up.

    What kind of gadgets and wizardry could help me achieve these tones, maybe a Sansamp? (I was looking at getting one on the SVT simulators anyway, so a yes would be money saving:))
