No, I think you were right the first time. His endorsement is for sale for the right price. We all have to make a living.

    Pure blues aren't pure nickel.

Wotten has lots of esoteric fancies, maybe he was attracted by the Voodoo-talk of "Quantum Nickel"-Strings.

DR Pure Blues? They're excellent strings regardless of whether Victor likes them or not.

XL's are ok, DR are a step up. If I wasn't a SS user I'd give pure blues a try out, or if DR gave a sample :smug:

I've never been very interested in what strings other people use.

I already wanted to try the Pure Blues. If Victor really likes them then all the better. I hope when I grow up that people care what strings I use.

I'll bet he's still using Fodera strings when the magazine ad people aren't looking :)

When I went to his camp in 2001 I won a set of his Fodera strings. Those things were tiny light! I would have snapped them in two in no time. He sure made them talk though.

It was great to hang out with him, his family, Steve, the Pastorius boys, etc. Good times.

People and their tastes change over a lifetime. Especially in music; Vic is just as much a gearhead as any other musician, and he's in a phase where he likes DR's. Ain't no thing.

On the practical or cynical side, of course it's an endorsement deal. But considering the cost of good strings, and the fact that a gigging pro like Vic probably goes through more strings in a year than I have in my whole life, that's a deal worth making even if they only pay him in strings.

I know were talking strings here, but I just have to share, I saw Victor at a bass clinic in Glendale Arizona a couple of weeks ago, sponsored by Hartke, I am a big Wooten fan, but that was one of the worst sounding rigs I had heard in an awfully long time. Not a pleasant sound. I understand the whole endorsement thing, even worked at a Bass Pro Shop myself that hosted Victor about 15 years ago, and I know the Hartke product can probably sound good, but this time it just didn't.

So which TB members will be zooming in on live photos of Victor playing to see if he is actually using those strings on his Fodera's? I seriously do not care what strings he uses.

We're Bass players. Sometimes we have a tendency to over think things. Maybe he just liked the color of the new packaging better. I'm just sayin'....
