I'm sure this has been discussed before but I can't find it. What's the thing wrapped around his headstock? Doors it serve a purpose or just decoration or...?

It is an elastic hair tie. He slids it down to neck to help mute the strings in certain situations

Yes, it is a "scrunchee", it's primarily for muting string while tapping, but can be used for slap and fingerstyle too. Anthony uses the gruv gear "fretwrap", which has a bit more area and is attached with velcro.

They're actually a symbol used by the Secret Society of Ponytail Admirers (SSPA). Put one on your headstock and everyone will know that you too love ponytails.
