I just found this video shot in 2015 and put up on Youtube May 2017 by Bass Musician Magazine. Igor Saavedra plays an original 1936 (1935?) Tutmarc 736 Bass Fiddle. I am guessing it is the one owned by Peter Blecha, (or Greg Tutmarc as he is also thanked) and it looks like the bass I have seen Peter holding in another photo. At the 3:50 mark you can see the compensated bridge! A detail I have not seen before. If you see the thumbnail screenshots it looks to me also that the body top has been refinished. At the 5:40 mark you can hear the bass being played.

Here’s the Feb 2017 article in Vintage Guitar Magazine showing the same bass, and the matching 936 Amplifier, with Peter Blecha!

That's great. There's another long running thread about building replicas of that bass. I was inspired and modified a Rondo Hadean solid body 24 inch scale bass ukulele as a tribute to the AudioVox Tutmarc Serenader.

    Tutmark tribute done 700.

I'd be interested, but only if it's the same skinny neck.

There's an original Audiovox bass on display at the Museum of Pop Culture in Seattle. It made me very excited to see one in person!

Anyone ask them yet? Sounds like a great project for one of their custom shop limited runs...

That is Peter's bass and he gave me a price on it last year.......it was higher than I paid for all 8 of my 51 pbasses combined...... then he said let me think about for a while........personally I don't want it that bad but it would be cool.....includes the amp;)

A 3rd Audiovox 736 electric bass has been discovered in Seattle!

It will be the first one to be offered by a private party on an eBay auction Sat. 2/24/2018 on a 10 day auction.

  15. I wonder does this bring the tally to 4 known surviving Tutmarc basses? The white one in the EMP museum Seattle, the brown one owned by Peter Blecha in Seattle, the brown one priced by Gruhn guitars, Nashville (and seen by @moonshinegtrs) which belongs to “I don’t know who”, and now another one in Seattle?
