Here’s what I’ve found out on-line about these over the years. If there are any Greco experts on TB, feel free to chime in. This model is usually referred to as a GS940, also called an “Arthur Smith”. Most sources state that they were produced by Matsumoku in Japan in the late 60’s. They are short scale, hollow bodied basses which sound pretty cool. I’ve seen the finish called Walnut, but it looks more like a rosewood veneer to me. UPDATE: Found a Greco catalog from 1967 on-line. The bass is model 930 (940 is a 12-string guitar). It has some wear, but is in pretty good cosmetic shape considering it is probably about 50 years old. To the best of my knowledge it is complete and all original, with the exception of the pick guard which is missing. (Honestly if you are going to play this bass a lot, you probably would take it off as it can get in the way) It has a few finish cracks in the back which appear to not go through the top of the veneer, but it’s hard to say. Comes with the original chipboard case with the Greco logo. PayPal is preferred, but I can make other arrangements if necessary. Shipping is included - CONUS only. PM with any questions.
