    Hi,

    Shot in the dark here...

I recently purchased a cool, nice ol' '72 Magnavox-built Ampeg V4-B that had it's volume pot replaced with a solid shaft Alpha pot and of course the original knob got lost:

I know fliptops sells the D-shaft pot, but they don't have knobs at the mo. Anyone know of another source for a used early Ampeg V4-B aluminum knob?

    Thanks,
    Chris

    1) Internet search

    2) Ebay search (create one and let it run)

Ebay is your best bet. Fliptops buys them there as well when they're up. Also search for Dan Armstrong knobs, they are the same.

    Hi,

Just what I feared. Thanks for your help.

I tried to go the route of getting the Dan Armstrong reissue knobs. I talked with Gregg from Vintage Amp and he said that these reissue knobs are not the same as the vintage ones as the new ones won't fit the vintage D shaft pots. So I am thinking the reissue ones are made to fit solid shafts? If so, I'm wondering how they are held on? Set screw perhaps? Or the reissue pot shafts are splined?

Maybe I got a vintage one then. When I bought my V4 it was missing a knob, and I got a dan armstrong one off ebay which fit as a replacement. It looked pretty new but might not have been a reissue.
