Vintage Guitar Gurus: Silvertone 1448 w/ amp in case

    Not a bass, but...
    Recently acquired on of these in very good condition. Probably gonna flip it.
    Have done the google thing, but anyone here have any light to shed? Thanks.


    This one is not mine, but the one I have is exactly like this, and likely in better condition. tb4o5hdobazdgtuc4utf.

    I never saw one being played. I have seen a couple of others in vintage guitar shops. IIRC, it was made by Danelectro and branded as Silvertone to be sold at Sears.

    I believe the single-pickup version is a short scale neck and not as desirable ($$) than the two-pickup model.

    My college roommate had a pristine two-pickup version of that. I think he paid ~$75 for it in 1979 dollars. The guitar felt like any other original 60's Danelectro I've ever played -- which is to say, kinda cheesey but kinda comfy. The amp sounded better than you might imagine, but not by much. Usable for recording, not really for gigging.
