Vintage Jazz Bass Question

Discussion in 'Basses [BG]' started by OldCityBass, Dec 20, 2003.

  1. I've never even held a vintage J bass (my oldest jazz is 3) and I'm posting this question for a guitar player friend who has apparently come accross one ...

What is on the bottom of 1966 Jazz bass pickups?
Is it like a regular 1966 Strat pickup and should it have a date on it, or what should I look for to be sure they are the stock pickups?

Yeah, they should be dated just like the strats are. 4 numbers: the first two digits are the week, and the last two digits are the year.
  3. Thank you
  4. There is a really good Vintage Fender resource HERE
