Cool article--anybody remember any of these?
I remember a good many. Thanks for sharing!
I remember being in college in the 80s, and waiting for a month until the next Guitar Player or Bass Player came out magazine came out at the local music store.
But a fish???
I so totally wanted one of those No Bozos tshirt that Eddie wore in that ad. Never wanted a Kramer, though. So I guess these ads were only so effective!
I'm not quite old enough for most of those. However, I remember cutting this ad out of a magazine and putting it on my wall in my bedroom. I though that the Spector bass was the prettiest object on Earth (females notwithstanding) when I first saw it.
Fender had a whole series of these---
Yup remember being very broke and drooling all over those ads.
What's so vintage about this?
One of our duplicating rooms at the old studio (in the early '80s) looked a lot like that.
the 80's are supposedly vintage now--and that ad looks older than that
I wasn't around for any of those, but putting a Precision Bass inside a DB case with the slogan of not everything good coming in big packages, that's dynamite.
Also, this work of art... belongs in Paris.
The fender & Epi ones are ones I remember from buying old used issues of Guitar Player and other guitar/bass magazines from music stores & used book stores--for cheap.
Fender did some cool ones.
Here's another in the You Won't with Yours series...
Love this one. I have the framed poster hanging in my music room.
I wish I had it poster-sized. I have the 1976 Fender catalog and scanned that page and printed it out 11"x17", but it's not like having it full size.
