Vintage-radius problems with Jazz

Discussion in 'Pickups & Electronics [BG]' started by Arch Giddle, Jan 31, 2005.

  1. Argh.... The E and G on my 62 RI Jazz are too loud compared to the A + D. Does anybody know of a workaround for this as opposed to dropping £100 on a pair of Dimarzio's with adjustable pole-pieces?

I currently have my bass set up so that all the strings are the same volume, but this forces the action on my E + G strings to annoyingly high levels. :(

Could it have something to do with the way your amp is EQ'd? If you're boosting low & high frequencies and/or cutting mids, that could do it. Flatten your eq and see if the problem persists.

Other than that, maybe some compression would help.
  3. Hmmm thanks for the thinking, thinker.

Perhaps I will try a bit more compression - although it is definitely not my EQ - I've checked the bass going straight into a VU meter!

    cheers anyway, dude
