Vintage String Retainer from Warmoth.

Discussion in 'Hardware, Setup & Repair [BG]' started by gonzorob, May 1, 2009.

  1. I ordered one a while back and just got it, I notice that it doesn't have the grooves in it for the strings to sit in. Whats the best way to do this?

A string retainer doesn't need grooves for strings.

  3. really?

The one that came off of my squier had grooves. I assumed it was standard.

  4. It's one of those round things, right? No grooves needed.

  6. Grooves probably developed with wear.

No they didn't, a lot of retainers come with grooves, in fact they're my preferred retainer(except for rolling ones), but some come with no grooves, either will work fine.
