i was on the phone with an amp tech this week and he told me my line out is off the transformer.

Would this signal get any of the power tube compression?

    Can anyone verify this claim?

I can't verify that without digging out my schematic for the V4 I used to own.

That being said, I own an Ashdown LB30 and the XLR out is a tap off of the output transformer. And, yes, that puts the full tube compliment in the line out signal.

Is the Ext Amp jack the one you are calling a "line out"?

We have to be clear abound the V4B revision that you have.

The vintage V4B is a pre-out via a ΒΌ" jack.
The V4BH has an XLR balanced out, it is preamp out as well.
The V4BR reissue also has an XLR balanced out, it is preamp out.

It can be done. Ask your tech if the amp has been modded for a power transformer line out?
