    Anyone heard of maker named Virgilio Calini? My student brought in a new bass with this name on the label.

    Hello,

    im am from Germany.
    My Orchestrsa bought on Callini 5 Str., an me to.
    I have a very fine Instrument of this luthier.
    But his Name is VITTORIO Callini.
    He learned in Cremona and the Name is a pseudonym.
    He is an hungarian guy and he gets very old and extraordinary wood from the "Karpaten"-region in Rumania.
    Both Basses had a price of 20.000 Euro.

    Here is the unusual scroll of the Callini bass. As far as I remember I did take the first name right off of the label so he probably uses different pseudonyms, if it is the same maker. I was told he is Romanian...
