If a device asks for 16VAC, will it operate within a range of voltages, or is that right out?
What are you trying to run? Anything above or below what its rated for risks damaging it. You also need to check current to make sure you're not running too much.
I'm having a deuce of a time finding a 16VAC (output) adapter (1000mA current). The closest I can find is an 18VAC adapter at 1000mA.
In the effects forum, I was told by a 4th year electrical engineering student that it would run on 18 volts just fine (he had run a Blue Tube on 18 VAC for years).
I want to poll a few other members on the forum with electrical knowledge to see what they think.
Depends on what's inside, chances are it'll be okay, but I can't say for sure. I would ask the manufacturer. If you can find a 16vac transformer rated at more than 1000ma's, use it.
