volume pedal: where in signal chain

    If you use a volume pedal, how have you hooked it into your signal chain?

    being a effects noob, but having a decent 'common sense'(not only meaning I smell ordinary, but also being able to think logically)
    this is what i conclude:
    if it'd go before the preamp, you would increase the signal, thus overdriven the gain, when pressing the pedal, so that would be a nono

    Most volume pedals don't boost the signal, only limit it, so that nono wouldn't be a nono.

    But he is wrong, so that nono that isnt a nono is actually a nono. :D

    Mines in the effects loop.

    I still say that nono that isn't a nono that's suddenly a nono again is suddenly a yes-yes :p (Meaning its ok to run your volume before your preamp -- less confusing way to say it)

    My setup: bass -> Custom EHX Big Muff -> BOSS BF-2 Flanger -> Morley Wah -> Morley Volume -> GK 400RB-III. No problem.

    I along with many others prefer to run the pedals straight in bypassing the effects loop. It does have it's drawbacks, but rarely an issue for me.
