Hi guys it's my first post on here but I've been using this site to do research for the last couple of months, so I'd just like to start out by saying thanks!

I've been in the market for a new bass since my friend came to take back his fretless Fender Jazz last week. Man I miss that thing and my budget has been small to nothing.

So after a month of looking all over for a few weeks I acquired a Vox custom bass 3002 for a very reasonable £120. I'm over the moon with this thing it's incredibly verstaile with the range of tones achievable through the combination of Dimarzio P bass and J bass pickups. It's built like a tank (It's heavy as hell) with an absolutely beautiful through neck made from Rock Maple.
It looks cool too, despite a previous owner cutting off a section of the upper horn (???) for me it just looks even more unique.

It's crazy to see how little these basses can go for, there was one on hear sold for £50!!! and at the same time a guy on reverb is valuing his at £700+

Here's a link to the guitar if people are interested.

I was wondering if anyone has any ideas about a case for her? She's 123cm so I'm guessing a case suitable for a thunderbird or something similar?

And lastly she's starting to neck dive a bit, probably not helped by the large headstock and the fact the upperhorn removal has changed her weight distribution, any suggestions on balancing her out would be greatly appreciated.

  2. Yep, it looks like it would neck dive.
Lighter tuners might help, but it really needs an upper horn.
The vintage DeMarzios are probable worth close to what you paid for it, so you did get a decent deal.

Yeah thanks for that Bill, I think even with lighter tuners I'm still going to have the same problem tbh.
I'm probably going to have to suck it up as without the upper horn I can't really attach a new strap nut higher up the body to address the balance issue
