Hi, I have recently been bestowed an old Vox bass. The bass was bought in the late 70's in a music store in Dublin, Ireland . Apart from the Vox logo on the headstock, there are no real identifying names or no's anywhere on the bass. At the the rear of the headstock there is a transparent sticker which reads, 'standard bass'.
Would anyone have any info on these basses, year of manufacture, are the pickups any good, etc. The strings are ancient so I can't really access how they sound. I'm not gonna put a fresh set of expensive flats on it if it's not a decent instrument. It is extremely heavy also but the neck feels pretty good to move around.
Thanks for any info
