And so I succumbed to the temptation to do a cover of Dean Town by Vulfpeck... but wow what a gorgeous bass line! Here is my version played with a Fender Precision American Performer in single coil mode. I hope it is

    at least decent!

Nicely played. If i can add a constructive criticism, it would be that the bass used just doesn't have the "whump" that is present in the original. All in all, great job.

It is normal because in the original song it is played with a real jazz, here it is an attempt at emulation through the sound of a single coil. To have the original sound it should be played with a Jazz. However I am satisfied with how the single coil of this PJ sounds

Sounds great...but I bet if you really work on Joe's head-nodding technique, you'll find that's the secret to his sound...
You get close a couple of times, but it's not quite there yet.

I am one of those people that until I really know something, I tend to not breathe as much when playing something difficult. I love this tune, and this is a great performance.

I would pass OUT! Hahahaha. Those turn arounds before the electric piano feature parts are soo fast.

Ahahaha is good advice ... in fact moving your head like that helps you get into the groove and its style better! The truth that every bassist has his own way of playing and his own style. I like to play a little bit of everything but mostly I'm a new wave bassist (gallup, hook, rourke) and that's where I express myself best. However I like to know and play much more technical songs even if far from the things I usually do with my band!

    You're welcome.

It was kind of like watching a demo for me as I just bought the same bass 9 days ago.

Really good! I wish I could keep my RH relaxed for that long! I always tighten up about midway through the second time through the bars of 16th notes.

    Well done!

Joe Dart amazes me. Coming up with that original line is very impressive.

Solid playing but your wrist joints are going to hate you in 10 years.

Makes sense, especially noting how the bass and keys are so in sync. But Joe owns that line, especially in the MSG live version. Great band and bass done right!
