I'd like to look at this in one of my excerpt books before a first rehearsal next week, but none of the books has anything labelled "Siegfried Idyll."

In what part of the opera does this appear? Does anyone know if it's in the F. Zimmerman Wagner excerpt book?

It was written as a separate piece for Cosima,to celebrate the birth of their son Siegfried - well before the Ring Cycle and has existed subsequently as an orchestral feature, like the Liebestod - although he does introduce similar themes into Act III of Siegfried.
