I don't think you're wrong. The sonic imprint from these tracks has led me to my own Wal usage.

maybe someone here knows how this can be remedied. My Mk1 has a problem with the treble tone pot. It 'slips' a bit, like something got loose inside the tone pot itself. I can't tighten any screws or nuts... the shaft turns to the end of the spectrum, so let's say to 10, and then quite easily - but with a noticeable different feel - will turn a bit more, like to 12... the same thing with dialing it down. So it moves to 0, and then some. The potentiometer works as intended, but it feels like its a matter of time until it falls apart. Any suggestions?
Yeah I need to do that anyways at some point. The bass is fine and functioning, but I would like to undo the little switch it has and get a complete electronics overhaul. The preowner put in a different socket so it could accept angled cables.

Is it possible to just by a neck from Wal? For example if i wanted to have the option to play my Mk2 5 string as a fretted or a fretless...

It is possible to buy two necks with a new build (doing that myself), but I don't know if they'll sell one for an older bass.
Practically speaking if it was a very recent build (like last few years) maybe their tooling would be okay to have that be possible, not sure if the specs on old Mk2s and new Mk2s are consistently so exact that everything would be fine. Plus different wood ages, etc.

I am pretty sure old and new Wals are the same as for necks.
There was a post in the FB Wal group that someone got denied from Paul ordering a new neck because of the ongoing backlog. I ordered a fretless mk3 neck prior to orders getting closed. When neck finally passed the queue I had to send my mk3 body.
Nope! My neck wouldn't fit my 98 mk3.....it fit my Paul Mk3 bodies (2017 and 2018)though....so it'd be gamble to say all are the same.

Jack should be nice and tight. Probably the jack probably isn't tightened to the housing to well. Add washers to the back and tighten it.
ok thanks, didn't know that. I can only speak for mk1's. The pre Paul mk1 necks that I swapped all fitted perfectly. But things might have changed slightly with the Paul era Wals?
Even for old ones it can be hit or miss. About 10 years ago I bought a lonely fretless Mk1 neck and at the time I had three fretted Mk1's it only fit one, the other two had gloss body finishes that didn't let it sit in right. Then I later ran across a lonely loaded Mk1 body, and luckily it fit perfect on that one.
I've never tried neck swapping since.
in 1994 I had Pete make me a fretted neck (ebony f-board) for my 1985 fretless MkI. Pete said there could be differences in the fit, so he had me remove my existing neck and trace around the heel on a sheet of paper and send him the paper. He also recommended for me to get it complete with tuners and string retainer (so I wouldn't have to swap them when swapping necks). The price was £200 for the neck plus £50 for the tuners (in previous posts I couldn't recall the exact price for certain, but I just recently uncovered the receipt and now know for sure).
