Wal bass sound

i wish it was just pickups but the question is will somebody out there please produce a preamp/pickup set that we can slip into a jazz or precision body that sounds like a wal!!

 

Yeah you are not just going to get some pickups and sound like a Wal. I can get a close approximation with my G&L L2500. In the ballpark and not exact.

 

Yes, Alain's preamp is pretty awesome, and another guy here...I think SGD Lutherie (sorry if I got that wrong) was building some Wal-like pickups. Get those two together and you are getting closer.

 

I wonder what would happen if you dropped an ACG preamp into a G&L L2000/2500? Hmmm.....

I confess I haven't searched at all, but what about the early passive Wal pickups?

I've read that they still retain a certain Wal character, anyone know if anything new approximates their sound?

Not trying to give a hard time here...but what does this have to do with lutherie?

Then again, 50% of the threads I read in this forum belong in setup & repair...are there Mods here or what?
