Wall of death

Discussion in 'Recordings [BG]' started by Gunnar Þór, May 20, 2003.

  1. I'm looking for a specific version of Richard Thompson's "Wall of Death". It's around five minutes long and sounds a little like a live recording but not quite, people only applaud at the end and not very much. Kind of what you hear when a band does the live-in-studio thing with the band clapping.

I don't think it's a cover version, at any rate it sounds like Thompson, but it's a little faster than the album version and I don't remember Linda (Or whoever if it was a cover) doing backing vocals.

AllMusic lists several versions: R.E.M, Kevin Griffin, Nanci Griffith and the Kennedys have covered it. Aside from them the only versions are from Thompson himself.

    Could it be from "Celtschmerz"?
  2. I found it, if anyone's wondering. The version I was looking for is by Thompson from the 1985 "Across a crowded room" live bootleg album.
