I'm considering investing my Tax Refund in a Walter Woods head, but I want to know what I'm talking about before I call him. What is the most powerful head he makes? I heard that his heads go down to 2 ohms in Bridge. Any truth to that Sombody with one please get in touch. Thanks!!
I have the Ultra Wally. It's a mono amp and is rated at 800-1200 watts (8ohm-4ohm). Walter did tell me to never (he was very adament) run it lower than 4 ohms. Hope that helps a bit.
He doesn't have a website...he's a private guy, and he's also so backed up, that if he had a website, he'd be swamped. E-mail me at [email protected] and I'll give you his phone number. For what it's worth, Bassgear.com had a new WW head a couple days ago. It was the "Hi Power" model, which is 300/450 watts at 8/4ohms. It's the one I have and it's the best amp I've ever used. He's asking $1500, which is a little higher than the $1399 Walter sells it for, but I'd spend an extra $100 to avoid the wait... http://www.cellularpager.com/cgi-bin/cgiwrap/phones/htmlos.cgi/0278.1.0991383966? Hope this helps
There's a mono ultra high power that's 800-1200 watt 8-4ohms definetly not 2 ohms. And a stereo 750-1000 watts 8-4ohms bridged again no 2ohms Walter would not recommend 2 ohms I asked him once.
66jazzbass, that's the one I think I'm after. How much? How long? You can e-mail me offline at [email protected] Thanks!
I'm assuming you're interested in the stereo amp, called the "Hi Power." Per side it's 225w-350w and bridges mono at 700w-1000w (8 ohm-4 ohm). Last I heard Walter's price was $1900 new. Matt Pulcinella has one. You might try emailing him if you have further Qs. I think the address is on his website, www.mpguitars.com. Good luck.
