Discussion in 'Basses [BG]' started by lidl e, Nov 24, 2022 at 4:07 AM.

  1. It's rare to find a bass ive never even heard of, but i have never heard nor seen this brand before and certainly never seen this bass.

Popped up in my local shop.

Not my style at all but interesting design, particularly the headstock

Seems to be quite high in the asking, but i dont know the provenance

Wandre Etrurian Bass 1960's - Some Neck Guitars

(FYI, i have no relation to this bass or this shop. it just happens to be my local shop. Super sound lads)

  4. This brand is from Cavriago, Italy. Luthier name is Antonio Pioli.

  5. is the price inline or a bit high (knowing this is Dublin where everything is a bit higher!)

  6. Very small batches were made, but I think that's overpriced.

AFAIK they're seriously sought-after. A search on Google about the luthier, and on Reverb and eBay for final price sales, should be enough to confirm (or deny - this is not my field of expertise at all).

  14. Wandre and Davoli. They’re both from 1960s(?) Italy. Very cool and very unusual. They both had interesting designs and I’m pretty sure only a handful were made and even fewer made it to the States so I wouldn’t be surprised if one here, in a big city or well advertised, went for 5 figures. That doesn’t mean I’d pay that, although I’d love to have one, or that I think that’s what they should be.

That looks like one of the bolt on headstocks that were, I believe, aluminum and literally attached to the neck with bolts or wood screws.

    Fun stuff.

Thats a terrible location for the output jack

The rest looks inspired by Russian Tonikas
  17. Wandre's are pretty rare and go for $3500 U.S. dollars on average. I think it's slightly high, but everything Vintage seems way out of wack to me in the last few years. About 7 years ago I sold a 66 Fender Precision bass in very good condition for $3500 I paid $1000 20 years earlier. I saw it listed on Ebay for over $6000 not too long after it sold. Today people are asking much more and they are selling.
