Want to double-check this J-bass series wiring option...

    Hi.
I'm having a bit of GAS, and to placate myself, I think I'm going to try wiring my jazz pups in series tonight.
I never use anything on that bass but the neck pickup soloed. Info leads me to believe that wiring the pups in series will get me a bit closer to a P-bass sound and retain hum-cancelling when both pups are on full. This is exactly why I've been contemplating buying an overwound, noise-cancelling neck pickup replacement, so I'd like to try the series wiring option first.
My only concern at this point is being able to still use the neck pickup soloed if I don't like the series sound.
Does walterw's diagram from this thread definitely work?:

I don't care about volume swells or anything. All I want is to be able to use either the neck pup soloed on full volume, both pups in series on full volume, and retain tone pot functionality.
Sorry if this is an annoying question.
