Want to upgrade the preamp on a cheap bass. Any suggestions?

    I recently got this bass:

That, but with the two side pieces dyed red. The instrument itself would be fantastic for three times the price. Plays like a dream and sustain for days. The wiring was positively horrific (leads held together with masking tape. omfg. Many shorts to fix), but I've got that sorted now. The preamp... The treble boost/cut control is good, but the bass boost/cut is voiced just a tad lower than I like. Feels boomy to me. I don't hate it, but I don't use it, and I'm sure it could be improved upon. They are both on the same preamp module.

Anyway, this is my first bass, and I've never shopped for preamps before. What do you guys suggest? I'd also be interested in upgrading to a three-band with one of those dual concentric pots or whatever, but I'd have to be able to find a pot like that with the right values. A good two-band is also acceptable.

There's a Sadowsky on-board listed in the Classifieds. $130 I believe. Great deal if it's still there. Pre-wired to boot.

good, because that's what I bought last night. I'm wonder if the set I got has any detents in the pots. I like those. Otherwise, I might have to figure out what sounds good with my ears!
