i own an old beat up Peavey 4 string that i need to fix up. When i go to adjust the intonation on it i need to have a set of strings that give off a warm, sustainable tone that accomidates the dual soapbar pickups. Please, i'm used to getting the rough, rock sounding strings so i'm not good at picking out ones that are more suited for that warm tone.

..have you tried the Peavey Cirrus strings. Or a good flatwound. I've heard the Fender flatwounds are really nice if that's what you're looking for!!

Depends on how "warm" you wanna go. There's black nylon tape wound Fenders and numerous good flats if you want the warmest of the warm. Or there's XL rounds if you just want a good balanced nickel sound. You'll just have to experiment I'm afraid and yes, it can get expensive.
