I have four piezo only basses. I use TI Acousticore, LaBella Black Nylon wound and TI Flats. I have purchased a GWB35 with a mag pickup. I am excited about having a mag pickup bass but still want that fat warm acoustic sound. The bass is coming with D'addario XL nickels which may be to metallic or bright for me. I am wanting to stay with rounds or maybe half rounds for the mwah factor. Any suggestions for round wound or half rounds that would fit would be appreciated. Thanks
I think TI flats wouild still do the trick, if you like them, but if you want a warmer sounding round you may want to try Fenders tapewound strings (not the silly nylonfilment ones). They are not for body through stringing, however. Another possibility is using either D'Addario half rounds or GHS Brite flats, which will still give you somewhat of a mwah factor. Doug
If you can stand the low-tension, then TI Jazz Rounds are the warmest, most organic roundwounds out there, imo. They're the perfect companion to the Acousticores too. If you love the acousticores, then you'll love the Jazz Rounds too
I wonder whether the Acousticores will work with magnetic PU? Are we talking about Rob Allen or Turner/Renaissance basses? Davo
