warmoth 24 fret overhang

Discussion in 'Basses [BG]' started by infamousxtopher, Apr 20, 2005.

  1. does anyone have a warmoth neck with th 24 fret extension? it seems that it would infringe quite a bit onto the body...is it actually playable given the size of hte cutaways? i'm building a bass, but 24 frets is a must, so are there any other peopel out there who i could get a 24 fret neck from, i would rather jsut have a longer scale instrument than a huge overhang, but i don't know if tha'ts really possible. hmm. thanks guys.

Why not get a body with a deeper cutout to compensate?
  3. i have my heart set on a dinky p unfortunatly, i guess icould take the cut away in a bit by myself. i'm wondering how close the fingerboard is going to end up to my pickup though

On a 4 string body, I have a hard enough time reaching the 21st fret overhang. IMO a 24 fret extension on a 4 string would be a waste of $$$$.

On a Dlx 5 string, the 24th fret is alot easier to reach.
  5. thanks guys. i do see it being a problem like that, but i really do that much range, i play a lot of cello pieces up an octave and its a nessecity, unfortunatly i'm not interested at all in a 5 string, i guess i'm jsut old fashioned. are there any other companies to look for that will make a 24 fret neck, possiblt a long scale one?

I've got the extension on a Deluxe 5... I have no issues reaching.
