    Hey folks,

I could use the forum's help. I'm considering purchasing a Warmoth jazz neck for a project bass, but alas I've never played one. How does a Warmoth jazz neck compare to say, an Essex jazz bass neck, profile wise? Is it thicker/thinner front to back, or approximately the same?
  2. The Warmoth neck on my bass is pretty chunky (more than any Fender 4 I've played), but I don't know how it compares to an Essex since I have never played one. It is kind of heavy due to the steel stiffening rods, but very stable.

If you want a skinny neck, try www.usacustomguitars.com. They use graphite rods to stiffen the neck and say they will do one with the same profile as a '62 Jazz neck. That's pretty skinny.
