I bought this recently but have decided it's not for me. It sounds great and plays brilliantly but after trying and buying various basses over the years, I've come to the conclusion that I don't need anything more than a passive Fender P-Bass to make me happy!

Solid walnut body, rosewood neck (nice and chunky, smooth non-glossy finish) and ziricote (no, I've never heard of this either!) fretboard. Gotoh bridge, Schaller tuners, dual Dark Star pickups (http://www.hammoneng.com) and an Audere 3ZB preamp (http://www.audereaudio.com/3ZB.htm) with 4 band EQ and a 3-way impedance control that can give either a deep woody tone or a thinner growlier sound (as well as a regular sound in the middle) at the click of a switch. It also comes with a hard case, leather strap and straplocks. Currently fitted with a fresh set of Pyramid Gold flats (awesome strings, worth $72 a set), but I'll also throw in a set of barely used unknown brand rounds that came off my Yamaha fretless.

It's in excellent condition bar a tiny chip/crack in the body which is barely noticeable but Can be seen in one of the photos below.

Selling for $800 plus shipping which is about $160 for USA, PM me with your address details for a quote on other countries.

Since this is not a bass you would have heard anywhere else, here's some clips I knocked up to give you an idea of what it sounds like:

Rounds (Starts off with impedance switch on regular setting bridge pickup, then both, then neck. Then repeats in lo-Z mode for a deeper sound. EQ left flat.)
Flats (Starts off with neck pickup, then both, then bridge. Very slight treble boost.)

Oh my. This is going to be gone QUICK. I wish I didn't just buy a new bass :(

What's the scale? Or did I gloss over that information?

    Standard 34" scale.

  4. nice having clips!

curious, is the distortion from overloading the input while recording or is it from the pickups/preamps?

love the boosh avatar too :)

i'd be soooo tempted if it weren't for the gold hardware...

I think it's from my recording interface, I don't hear any distortion from my Markbass rig even when digging in as hard as I can. The battery is running very low though (the Audere pre has a handy battery indicator) so it could have been that. A big reason why I prefer passives, I hate batteries!

I'd be in deep trouble if this was a short scale passive bass...

I know what you mean, I usually can't stand gold either, but I made an exception for this as it looks so right against the dark woods. I don't think chrome would look as good on this. The nut is made of brass and I think the pickup surrounds might be too.

  10. How is the neck dive with this bass?

None whatsoever. Just tried putting it on letting go and swinging around and it stayed perfectly balanced!

That is the coolest SG style bass I've ever seen. And it sounds great too!

11 lb / 5kg. A couple of people have asked for quotes, I've only just got around to measuring the box and weighing it - it'll come over 10kg including the hard case and all boxed up, which tips it into the more expensive end of the shipping tariffs. Best I've got so far to the US including insurance is £97.50 / $160. It may also be possible to remove the neck and sell it without the hard case in order to lower the costs.

I'll try and find out what it will cost to ship if I don't include the hard case and take off the neck...
