This started as my dream Dark Star bass, but since I've had a hard time getting my mitts on the DS pickups, I through some Guild USA Humbuckers in there for the time being. I'm back to wanting a 'Ray/L1K in my stable, so this thing is up for sale! It's an alder Warmoth body finished by them in black, with routes specifically for Dark Star pickups. I've got no pickguard on it cause I think it looks clean and slick that way, and it was a control plate from a Road Worn jazz. No knobs right now, but I might be able to find some to send along with it. The neck is USACG, wenge fingerboard on a maple neck. I've got both a Gotoh bridge from Warmoth, and a standard Fender bent plate one, you can take one or both. Tuners are Hipshot ULs. It's got a very warm and full sound from the humbuckers, similar to an EB or a Starfire reissue, but has the playability I like from the 34'' scale and jazz body/neck.

    $450 shipped in the US.

Are these the reissue P.U.'s made by seymour duncan or 70's humbuckers? I,ve had both and prefer the 70,s ,smooth and warm sounding, SD's are a bit more modern sounding to my ears. I actually liked these HB,s better than the bisonics.

I believe they are the reissues, at least they were sold to me as such. The stamping on the back just says Guild Made in USA, so someone more knowledgeable can maybe jump in on that. I have sound clips from a recent session, I'll upload them this evening.

Yup, both pickups, though I may have rolled some tone off.

It's an original, but sorta standard chord progression.
