    Hello Bass Lovers
I recently purchased a used Fender MIM, love the bass but the neck has issues. Frets 1-12 sound fine, then lower then 12 fret all strings buzz. I brought it in for a set up and it didn't help at all, I hung it on my wall for 2 weeks now, it looks like it got better. Has this ever happened before?

Only way to know would be to measure the relief before and after. The string tension might have gradually added some neck relief. I'm not sure hanging would have done anything.

Without the benefit of pictures it sounds like a "ski jump" situation.

    Usually correctable.

Do you have a second bass to play while it gets fixed?
Given the correct amounts of clamping, heat and time
    it can go back.
Getting in a hurry can do more harm than good.

There are about a million variations on exactly what to do.
Most work to one degree or another.
Taking it to a good luthier is the safest option.

Hanging a bass absolutely has an effect. So does setting it on a stand backwards. These things are made of wood, not iron.

Now for the flood of people who have an opinion about something with which they’ve never experimented.
