Would the Warwick corvette standard bass be considered a p or a j bass just out of curiosity

If it's fully passive it's probably closer to being a J bass. It'd be even closer if it had alnico pickups instead of ceramic.

My corvette has replacement pickups designed for a jazz bass. So it's a j.

Ceramic magnet pickups can come in any shape.
Pickups in general have 2 traditional types of magnets, ceramic & alnico.Alnico stands for aluminium, nickel & cobalt. There's about 5 different types of alnico, but it's usually alnico 5 that you find is most common.
Do a google search on bass pickups & have a read. That's the best way to get aquanted with them & what they do.
    Cheers mate.

& Thumb NT also has jazz pickups, but it's anything but a jazz bass.imo it takes alot more than just pickups to make a jazz.;)
