warwick heads

Discussion in 'Amps and Cabs [BG]' started by rich37, Apr 14, 2002.

  1. Has anybody heard of Warwick heads?
    Are they worthy?

Does anybody know the difference between the Warwick Quad IV-valve top (has one 12AX& and two ECC83 tubes) or the Warwick Pro-tube IV MOSFET(Has one 12AX7 and a EL84 tube)?

They are both 400W RMS, and I'm planning to use it with my Ampeg SVT410HLF cab wich is 500W RMS

The Pro Tube has a little tube power amp section (incl. transformer= in the tube preamp, hence the EL84. This is supposed to give a better tube sound as opposed to just a tube preamp, since you also get the characteristic sound of a tube poweramp and transformer.
The Quad has just a tube preamp section.

I only played the Pro Tube IX, which is a killer amp, but AFAIK it's not available in the U.S.

  3. I 'm not sure of combining Warwick with Ampeg.
    would it be oke?

There's no definite answer to that, it works in any case, but if you like the combination - test it.
