    Hi,

Usually all my basses have Dunlop straplocks, but a NBD brought me one that has Warwick ones.

I don't know much of them, but some people told me they failed for them.

So, my first intention is to replace them by Dunlops (or try out new Schallers).

Am I doing right thing here?
Or the general consensus about Warwick locks that they're not as bad?

    Thanks.

I’m not sure if what you have are the same as what came with my German Thumb in 2013, but those were designed with only 3 “balls” in the barrel. One at every 120° as opposed to the Dunlop’s, which have four, one at every 90°.

My 3-ball Warwicks would surprise me frequently by failing to fully deploy and lock. Luckily I never completely dropped the bass, but the events were frequent enough for me to ditch and decry the Warwick locks ever since.

So if yours only have 3 “balls”, I’d swap them out PDQ.
