Will changing these pickups make a difference? I play Taproot/Finch/Primus style (slap, pull, strum, anything but pick).

    If so, any suggestions?

The MEC pickups aren't bad I changed the pups and harness because it kept breaking down. I ripped the whole lot out and fitted the Alembic system. This uses a low pass filter which is radically different. I can go from dub to slap with one tone control.
  3. yes the alembic system is very very different....for the better.

    i have a thumb-4 b/o with MECs.

its not necessary...tweak your preamp on your rig and adjust the tone controls on your bass.

    that should suffice.:D

    (too conservative)

What exactly do you mean by the alembic system...the rackmount system or is there an onboard system?

Its an onboard system consisting of two J pups and the knobs and harnesses. It has vol pan and lo passs filter. Its very different from anything else out there.
