2005 Warwick Thumb NT 5 string

    Just a nut III
    Aguilar preamp, 3 band eq
Includes choice of either Warwick rockbag gig bag or non-branded hardshell case

Just got this in a trade here on talk bass. Killer playing and sounding bass. For ten years old, this bass is in truly excellent condition. Very very few markings, honestly the only ones I've found are small little marks on the lower bout. Not even any buckle rash! I don't use the terms mint or like new, cause it's still an older bass, but I will say that youd be hard oppressed to find an instrument on the wall in a store in better shape than this!

Previous owner upgraded the nut to a Just a Nut III (or someone did somewhere along the way), and had an Aguilar preamp installed. I think it's an obp3? Mid knob is push pull, and I think is selectable mids. Don't know much about this preamp truthfully, aside from it seems quite powerful and sounds amazing. The volume push pull for active/passive does not work, however. It stays active all the time. Doesn't bother me any since I don't use passive, but I did find that out when I got it and want to be up front about it.

$2,200, paid via paypal, CONUS only. No trades on this one.

You and the SSII are about as repellant as a BN Dolphin is to me. Best of Luck in your pursuits...

Yes you really do! I've gone through 25 Warwicks over the years and my SSII 5-string is still the best in my book. I even previously owned a P-Nut II, which is a really nice bass. But I still have my SSII which I purchased new in 1995.

This Thumb really is a stunner though > one of the most beautiful I've seen.

Best of luck on your SSII quest.

Seriously! I hardly see them for sale, when I do they're usually overpriced, and when they're not I don't have the funds. Or I finally find one, and it'll sell out from under me. If I could afford a new one, I'd just go that route, but that's simply too much.

Haha, I still maintain the only way I'll sell it is if someone pays me enough to buy another brand new one from the custom shop, and they'd have to throw it extra on top to cover the divorce that my wife would file after I sold it!

What a beautiful bass. I love it when bassist take good care of their instruments. Wish it was coming to Grand Prairie! GLWYS Texas brother.

Definitely! I was a bit shocked, honestly. Usually when someone tells me the instrument they're selling/trading is either in excellent or "mint" condition, I get it, and it's got marks and dents and issues all over the place. I don't recall the seller ever uttering the word mint (thankfully, as it's never true), but when he said it was in excellent condition, he wasn't lying! This thing looks practically new, definitely better than anything I see at a music store. I had bought a Les Paul Trad Pro II about a month ago, and it had all sorts of knicks and dents, and two of the knobs were broken. This was a new guitar. I'm very fortunate that my other basses were in like-new condition as well. They both looked like the prior owners bought them, and just left them in their cases or on a stand their whole lives. I wasn't specifically looking for them to be in that great of shape, but I'm far more appreciative when they are, and I'm willing to spend just a little extra if I know it's the case since I like to keep my instruments in great shape too.

I believe the word for this bass, is "pristine". Basses like this, are why I renewed my membership. I don't know about the other members, but this bass speaks to me. Somebody please buy this, so I don't have to sell my Sadowsky. heehee.

This bass looks great hanging on my wall, and doesn't sound half bad either...however, I gotta make room since I don't have any free wall hangers, and I don't like leaving instruments shoved in their cases going unloved!
