I can't find the thing on Fender's website, and I saw someone mention it on a classifieds thread. I know they moved production from Japan to Mexico for the 4, but that's it. Did Fender ditch it?

  2. I heard that Miller's contract or endorsement with Fender expired or something. Don't quote me on it, but that's what I heard. I also saw that Sting's signature bass was taken off Fender's website a year ago or so too.

I've seen him say in old interviews that his bass was only supposed to be a limited edition, one year thing but it lingered for several. Maybe sales are down now that the 4 is made in Mexico and they decided to end it.

The MM has been the sole object of my GAS for years. I hope whatever's going on doesn't drive up used prices. :p

You can always convert a standard jazz bass. Have a PG made and add a preamp. IMG_7874.JPG

Don't remember the brand, but I saw that he is endorsing another bass.

Yep. Master volume, master tone, neck and bridge volumes and 4 band EQ. On off switch for each pickup plus an Audere Z mode switch. The covered switch disconnects the battery so you can leave it plugged in without battery drain.

I took a look at the Sire site. It says they're HQed in Corona, CA (same town as the current Fender factory), but there's some poor English on the site. I wonder if it's a Chinese instrument company with a USA HQ?

Check that: $99? There's no way this is anything but an Asian import company.

Anyone want to play a BASE guitar, by the way? I'm surprised Marcus is endorsing this.

They dropped a unique P (sting) and a unique J (miller) and chose to beat dead p and j horses instead (Ramone and Clayton).

Atop the extremely cheap guitars, that Sire Guitars main site & shopping site has so much wrong with it, including broken links, default welcome messages and poor English/strange English that I would never go back.

Sorry Marcus. Hope you can make amends with Fender next year, or maybe go back to Sadowsky or something.
