    Warning: Bass novice alert. :p

How hard would it be to add a J pickup to a Washburn XB105 (it has split P pickups)? Is it worth the time and effort?

For another option, is there a way to replace the P pickups with a J pickup?

    Thanks in advance.

Adding a j pickup would involve routing a hole in the bass for the pickup. I don't think I'd want to do it. You would also need to do some more wiring, and you would probably need to add a couple more knobs--two volume and two tone, or a volume, blend and two tone--drilling more holes in the bass. I have a Washburn XB-100, and I really love it, but IMO it wouldn't be worth adding the j.

I guess it depends on how good you are a woodworking and wiring.

I wouldn't have too much of a problem with the wiring, but I'm not too great at woodworking. I think I'd be better off getting Bartolini or EMG P pickups.
