Washburn XB920 - Any opinions out there?

Discussion in 'Basses [BG]' started by fourstringbliss, Oct 6, 2005.

  1. I have an MIA Fender Jazz with a J-retro. I want a fuller sound and there's a guy who wants to trade me his Washburn XB920 + $200 for it. The XB920 has a bartolini 3-band pre and the similar Bart pickups as the MTD 435/535. Has anybody out there played one? It looks really nice and he says it's really clean. How big is the body compared to the Jazz?

The XB920 is a really nice bass... I've owned a couple. But IMO, the resale value is so low that you shouldnt trade for it. The bass is lightweight, has a pretty good sound and can be set up well. But they sell for less than $500 on the used market. You should get a better return for your jazz. I sold my XBs, and kept my jazzes...
I also dont know if you could call it a fuller sounding bass.

Yep..the resale is crap. I'd either find a way to buy the Washburn if you like that bass, or maybe look into a Lakland 5501 or 5502. Those have the "thicker" sound you describe.
