I've been looking into upgrading the control knobs on one of my basses, and I came across knobs made from water buffalo horns: http://www.allparts.com/PK-0197-000-Water-Buffalo-Horn-Knobs_p_2887.html

I'm by no means Mr. PETA, but should I be concerned about any ethical what-have-you's if I order these? Are they generally okay to buy or is it similar to buying something made of elephant ivory, rhinoceros horns, or those banned exotic woods?

I don't think there is any ethical concern. The horn most likely comes from domesticated animals that were slaughtered for food.

It's a shame then that they don't come with some jerky, too. :D

    Thanks for the reply.

  5. Its about as touchy an issue as using a knob made from the horn of beef cattle.

  6. I have no idea on the ethical ramifications of those knobs. They do look neat though :)
